Commentary
Although Malthête declared this film as lost in his 2002 publication on Méliès, a print had actually been acquired by Lobster Films in Paris in the 1990s. According to Serge Bromberg's entry in the 25th Pordenone Silent Film Festival catalogue, however, the print was in such critical condition that it was not until 2006 that it could be successfully unwound and restored. A painstaking digital restoration was carried out by PresTech Film Laboratories Ltd. in London. The restored film was screened as part of the 'Incunabula' programme during the 25th Pordenone Silent Film Festival in Sacile, Italy, in October 2006.
