Die Motorbraut. Liebe, Leid und Sport
director: Richard Eichberg
year: 1924
country: Germany
Eva has but one passion: motors. In her workshop, she works on a new boat motor invention of her own. One day, Frank, a convict on the loose, jumps in front of her sports car. Eva gives Frank a job in her father’s factory, and together they work to finish the motor. They take the boat to a big race, where its engine will truly be put to the test. However, its fuel tank explodes. Frank saves Eva but his cover is blown. Together they flee from the police, and get married in London.
On the South American coast, Frank is about to be arrested again, but he jumps into the ocean and disappears. Believed dead for many years, Frank later returns, only to find Eva has remarried. Frank is forced to realize that Eva has now found happiness without him. After a great act of sacrifice in which he saves the life of his rival in love, he commits suicide.
