A wooden bench in front of a frame house or shed in a rural environment. A man and woman from better society hold hands affectionately and evidently discuss a problem. / Inside a shed or a hangar. A man in a striped suit tampers with a simple aeroplane [frame scan 1]. / The wooden bench in front of the shed again. The woman is now sitting on the bench and the man joins her. Again they talk to one another. The woman leaves the scene. / Inside. Private atmosphere. A woman in her dressing gown reads a newspaper at the breakfast table. The husband (in the striped suit) greets her with a kiss. He sits down at the table, then stands up again, clearly somewhat distressed [frame scan 2]. The woman engrosses herself in the newspaper again: "Heute abend wird Herr Flarion um den Preis für Höhenflug: Frs. 10.000 konkurrieren." (Trans: This evening Mr. Flarion will compete for the price of 10,000 Francs for high-altitude flights) [Insert from the 'Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger' dated 21 June 1911; frame scan 3] She is pleased about the news but he is evidently not as he continues to remain pensive [frame scan 4]. She leaves the room. / The husband at the desk in his office. He writes a letter. His wife has readied herself for going out and bids farewell [frame scan 5].

Commentary
Now positively sure that my first suspiscion that it is Valdemar Psilander was right, since Hiroshi Komatsu had a look at the stills and confirmed. So it is a danish film befor 1916. Let's asl thomas Christensen (this is real fun and a very social gane!)
mariann lewinsky, 17.08.2010
A 16mm print of the complete film is available to rent from the Deutsche Kinemathek. For more information please see the film's entry in the Kinemathek's online distribution catalogue.

It definitvely doesn't look French to me, the room, the people.... could be Danish or even German. I have the feeling to have seen the actor somewhere.
mariann lewinsky, 13.08.2010
Thomas Christensen informed us on 18.08.2010 that this film is "En Lektion" (known as "The Aviator and the Journalist's Wife" in English), a 1911 Nordisk Production directed by August Blom. A synopsis, full list of credits, a selection of stills and a programme are currently available to view on the Danish Film Institute's website here.

Print without main title. In one inter-title a sum of money is indicated in 'Frs.' (Francs), suggesting with some assurance that this is a French film. Year determined as 1911 based on the German insert from the 'Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger' newspaper from 21 June 1911.
