Herbert Fux plays Kim, who rides through Munich on a pony as part of an advertising stunt, and--through a series of unlikely but hilarious adventures--finds himself a star. Kim has a wind-up toy (a monkey), and plays his role with deadpan humor to great effect. One of the people he meets is Whitey (Rainer Basedow), who says he has a band named Whitey and the Dead End Kids.

Commentary
I saw this wonderful black and white movie with English subtitles at a German Film Festival in Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1970. It would be great to have it found and released on DVD. According to IMDB, writer-director Franz-Josef Spieker was murdered in Bali in 1978; the two-sentence bio notes that his body was found without his eyes and genitals.
