Title: Ein Drama in den Bergen (A Drama in the Mountains) [probably added retrospectively as all other titles contain the Edison 'E' logo] Two young couples in a cabin [frame scan 1]. - IT: Ein Scherz (A Joke) [frame scan 2] - A woman receives parcels. The man attempts to kiss her [frame scan 3]. Inside: Her husband reads a letter despite her protestations [frame scan 4]. IT: "Liebes Lieschen, ich kann den Kuss nicht vergessen, wann kann ich Dich wieder allein sehen? Immer Dein Tomas [sic!]." (Dear Lieschen, I cannot forget the kiss. When can I see you again alone? Yours always, Thomas) - The husband leaves the room in a jealous rage. He takes his friend to task on a precipice. They fight. IT: "Sie beschließen es auszufechten." (They decide to fight it out) - Whilst the men fight, the woman looks longingly out the window [frame scan 5]. - IT: "Ein Unglücksfall während des Kampfes." (An accident during the fight) - One of the men falls from the precipice, the other hurries home, deeply affected. He tells his wife about the accident [frame scan 6]. She hurries to the scene of the accident with a female friend, equipped with a lantern and a rope. The casualty hangs on a ledge. IT: "Ein gefahrenvoller Rettungsversuch." (A dangerous rescue attempt) - The women lower down the rope [frame scan 7] so the man can rope down. - IT: "Lebendig." (Alive) - The women prop up the man and bring him to the cabin [frame scans 8]. - IT: "Einige Tage später." (A few days later) - Reconciliation (?) in the cabin [frame scans 9 & 10]. - End title with the trademark: "A. Schimmel, Berlin. Kinematographen und Films."

Commentary
This is THE QUARREL ON THE CLIFF an Edison film released on 5/12/1911. I've uploaded the synopsis from the 5/1/1911 issue of the Edison Kinetograph, and also an enlargement of the photos with it. The husband is played by Herbert Prior, the wife Mabel Trunnelle (they were married in real-life), the husband's brother is Richard Neil, and their sister is Laura Sawyer.
