Plot synopsis: Sam (who works at the general store) decides he must make more money for his family (wife Anne and child). With advice from Jim Doherty (the "King of the Vagabonds') he decides to hop a train out to Arizona. Unknown to Sam, the vagabonds (who hang out by the train tracks) have gotten hold of a letter from the Southern Railroad superintendent John Hecker specifying that vagrants will not be tolerated riding his trains. Sam is asleep in a cattle car as the vagrants attack him. Meanwhile his wife and child await news as the creepy Jim Doherty watches them from a cabin window.
