Hilde Petersen postlagernd
director: Victor Janson
year: 1935 country: Germany To keep her unemployment a secret from her mother, Hilde Petersen leaves the house at the same time each morning to look for a job, and doesn't come home again until the evening. One day she spots a job notice requesting a secretary. To ensure that her mother never learns of her deception, she writes as a return address "Hilde Petersen: general delivery". The ad was placed by the writer Dr. Nordmann, who is thrilled by Hilde’s application, especially her picture. His jealous wife, however, prevents him from accepting her. By chance, Hilde meets Dr. Victor Franke, a lawyer and friend of the Nordmann family. The young lawyer secretly follows her to the post office. Once again she leaves the post office, disappointed and without a letter. He decides to send her a note, requesting a meeting. He waits in vain for an answer. The Nordmanns then come to rely heavily on Victor: Victor is brought in to mediate the fight between the newly weds but his attempt fails. Dr. Nordmann packs his things and leaves the house. Victor is then forced to play the faithful husband for an uncle arriving from Java. The plan works until Victor runs into Hilde once again. After some chaos, the two find their way to one another. Dr. Nordmann also returns to his wife. Adapted from sources presented on this website Director of Photography: Carl Drews, Georg Bruckbauer.
