Short synopsis: Fragment of a society drama set in Paris.
Sequence of scenes:
1) A young woman with a ponytail reads out the guestcard: 'Invited guests: Frau von Limay...' [frame scan 1]
2) The party in the garden.
3) A woman in front of a mirror, she's plucks her white dress. A maid brings her hat and umbrella. Her mother joins.
4) IT: 'Er wird heute durch den Herzog v. Brissac eingeführt.' ('He's going to be introduced by the Duke of Brissac today.')
5) Similar to 3) Close up of mother and daughter. Both leave.
6) IT: 'Leroux lebte seit jener Affaire auch in Paris.' ('Since his affair, Leroux has also been living in Paris.') [frame scan 3]
7) Leroux ascends a poor staircase. [frame scan 2]
8) Leroux in his apartment/studio (?). He rests his head heavily in both his hands. He takes a newspaper out of his jacket pocket.
9) Insert: 'Mr. Ward und Frau sind gestern in Paris angekommen und haben im Palais Limay Wohnung genommen.' ('Mr. Ward and his wife arrived in Paris yesterday and have been staying at Limay Palace.')

The archive title was chosen because of the title on the can. However, the content of the film has nothing to do with the Richard Oswald film 'Anders als die Andern' from 1919.
Strangely, the collection documents describe the material as follows: black and white, negative, about 90m. However, the documents also include the intertitles of the fragment and identify "fragments of the controversial 'Sittenfilm' with Conrad Veidt as leading actor."
