It shows a woman on crutches and a man talking a walk in a field. There is a sign that says “beware of the dog.”
The dogs run towards the people. The woman drops her crutches and they both run away.
The people come to a barrier in their path. The man crosses the barrier while the woman beats him over the head with a stick.
The woman, alone in the scene climbs over the barrier.
As you watch the film, you realize that the ‘woman’ is actually a man in drag.
Commentary
Others are more expert - and I'll pass this on to them - but this looks like a William Haggar film, British, 1902-5 or so.The setting looks very similar indeed to a surviving film of his called The Bather's Revenge and the male characteris costumed and made up precisely as William Haggar was in that film. It may be the same 'woman' but the dress is different. For a still image, look at the third image down on this website. http://www.williamhaggar.co.uk/Haggar-Films.html . Not only that, but the typography of the 'Beware of The Dog' sign strongly resembles the style Haggar used in his intertitles. The running towards the camera position as seen in the last two frames was a device he used frequently. None of which is conclusive, but it looks.....reminiscent ???
